How Besample detects inauthentic survey responses
Four independent signals, each targeting a different failure mode. Scores arrive per response during fieldwork, not after the wave closes.
Signal 01
Response timing
Besample measures the elapsed time between page loads and individual question interactions. Each question has a minimum plausible completion time derived from word count and cognitive task type. Responses that complete multiple questions in seconds where human reading time would require minutes carry a timing anomaly score.

Answer pattern analysis
Variance and transition frequency across scale items reveal respondents selecting a column without reading questions.

Geographic consistency
Respondent-declared geography is cross-referenced against IP resolution and time-zone metadata. Discrepancy scoring accounts for known VPN profiles and panel proxy ranges common in specific emerging market regions. The signal focuses on implausible country pairings, not on penalizing legitimate VPN use.
